P Gowtham Reddy, chairman of AP Fibernet Corporation, told TOI that a detailed project report is being finalised. “We plan to set up these parks in selected villages on pilot basis. The project will be expanded to other villages later. The village internet parks will ensure high-speed net connection and would be available free of charge. People visiting native villages from urban centres and foreign countries will benefit from these parks,” he said.
Many remote villages do not get proper services like medical, telecommunication, government supply schemes etc due to lack of internet connectivity, Reddy said, adding that the proposed internet parks will solve such logistics issues. “These parks will greatly benefit people in these areas. It will also be a boon for people who work from home. We will ensure there are no power or internet interruptions at these parks,” he added.
Underground cabling work for these parks have already begun, he said, adding that once the pilot project is successfully executed, it will be extended to other areas. “The VIP project is meant for villages where internet facility is not available,” Reddy informed.
