New Delhi: In a shocking incident of theft reported from the national capital, two men broke into an electronics store and stole gadgets worth Rs 70 lakh. The entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras.
According to the police, the thieves arrived in a hatchback car at the electronics located in the Bharampuri area of the national capital in the wee hours of Sunday. They entered the store by prying open the shutter and decamped with the gadgets.
In the footage, one of the thieves can be seen forcefully lifting up the shutter of the store using a rod, probably a metallic one. Later, he, along with his associate, can be seen hastily picking up packaged gadgets that were kept on display and other areas of the store.
In another incident, a 27-year-old man with a criminal record was thrashed to death by a group of people in the city’s Raghubir Nagar locality.
Police said the deceased was identified as Satender, a resident of Janta Colony in Shivaji Vihar. He was earlier found involved in around eight cases of crime, including theft and robbery.
Satender and his friends – Nitin and Manish – had an argument with a man, identified as Vicky, on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. Later, Vicky, along with his associates thrashed Satender with baseball bats, leading to serious injuries that resulted in his death, police said.
Police have registered a case and efforts are underway to determine the exact cause of argument that triggered the violent fight. Accused are absconding and a hunt is on to nab them.
