OnePlus is tipped to launch the next iterations of its flagship series in the middle of March next year. While multiple reports have confirmed the launch of two OnePlus models – OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro, a third variant might also join this list and if so, the device will possibly be called the OnePlus 9 Lite.

Though no concrete information is available about the device at the time, a new report by Android Central speculates that the OnePlus 9 Lite will be placed between the OnePlus 8T and the OnePlus 9. This means that the smartphone will likely borrow some of its aspects from the former flagship device of OnePlus.

The report mentions the camera setup on the OnePlus 9 Lite to be one of these features. This means that we can see a quad-camera setup on the device along with dual-LED flash. Another report meanwhile, suggests that OnePlus has collaborated with Leica for the cameras on its future smartphones.

In either case, the OnePlus 9 Lite will boast of some serious photography-capabilities at its price point, which is tipped to be around $600 (~Rs 41,000) as of now.

As for its firepower, the report speculates that the OnePlus 9 Lite will feature the Snapdragon 865 chipset. This would be a step-down from the recently launched flagship Qualcomm processor Snapdragon 888 SoC which will power the OnePlus 9 and the OnePlus 9 Pro.

Other features which can be anticipated with the OnePlus 9 Lite are a 90Hz or a 120Hz AMOLED display as well as a 65W fast charging.

What is now being called the OnePlus 9 Lite was previously rumoured to be OnePlus 9E. The speculated device seems to be OnePlus’ budget offering to the masses, as its flagships keep climbing the price tree with every launch, nearing the likes of Samsung Galaxy S Series and Apple iPhone flagships, which it set out to beat in the first place.
